About Hush Machine
An iPhone app that makes noise live, from violet to deep brown, on one dial. This page says who makes it, how the sound is made and how we write.
Who makes it
Hush Machine is made by Kallos Labs, a small independent app studio. The small K is our mark; the app keeps its own name and its own look.
How the sounds are made
Every colour is generated on your phone while it plays. There are no recordings on a loop, so nothing repeats, all night. The dial tilts the balance from the highs to the lows: violet at one end, deep brown at the other. Sound match listens to a sound near your phone for 10 seconds and rebuilds it with the same generators; nothing is recorded or kept, only measured.
Hushling, the fuzz, is drawn from the same numbers. Each fibre is a band of the sound: short ones on top for the highs, long ones underneath for the lows.
Hushling, playing white.
How the blog is written
The blog covers noise colours, sound and how people use them for sleep, focus and quiet. Articles name their sources and show when they were published and last updated.
No medical claims
The app and this site do not diagnose, treat or cure anything. Articles about sleep, babies and ringing in the ears describe what people do and what published sources say. For a medical question, ask a doctor.
Privacy
The app has no account and no analytics, and collects no data. This website uses Google Analytics only if you accept cookies, and you can change that any time under Cookie settings in the footer. Read the privacy policy
